Mitsubishi Motors Corporation – All-new Outlander PHEV model wins iF DESIGN AWARD 2022

Tokyo- Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (hereafter, hereafter, Mitsubishi engines) announced that the all-new Outlander Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) model has won the iF DESIGN AWARD 2022 – one of the world’s most prestigious design awards – organized by iF International Forum Design GmbH situated at Hannover, Germany. It’s the first time that Mitsubishi engines received the world famous design award.

Since 1954, the iF DESIGN AWARD has recognized outstanding design and is recognized as a symbol of design excellence around the world. For the iF DESIGN AWARD 2022, approximately 11,000 submitted entries from 57 countries were judged by a jury of international design experts based on five criteria – idea, form, function, differentiation and impact.

All-new Outlander PHEV model

The all-new Outlander PHEV model is Mitsubishi Motors’ flagship model that brings together the best of electrification and integral control technologies, while using a next-generation platform and an array of cutting-edge technologies. Under the Bold Stride design concept, the exterior features thick horizontal proportions that produce a bold and setting presence, and jet tail fin pillars inspired by the vertical tail of aircraft that express the powerful and agile on-road performance of the vehicle. Inside, materials have been carefully selected to enhance the luxury feel, while the horizontally sculpted dashboard that makes it easy to understand the car’s position while driving adds a feeling of sturdiness and space. By winning the 2022 iF DESIGN AWARD, the all-new Outlander was particularly recognized for its form, function and differentiation.

Winners of the iF DESIGN AWARD are selected across multiple disciplines, including product, packaging, communication and service design, architecture and interior design, as well as professional concept, experience user (UX) and user interface (UI).
