The 5 exciting takeaways from Kia Carens from design sketches

The next Kia Carens is ready to set sail on December 16. However, here are 5 exciting design attributes of the Carens that its design sketches reveal.

Indians love to buy practical cars. For the same reason, people carriers and SUVs are picking up the pace of sales, while sedans struggle to put respectable numbers on the tally. To capitalize on this trend, Kia is also preparing to launch a three-row vehicle in the Indian market. The company claims it is an RV (recreational vehicle) and not an SUV or MPV. The South Korean brand’s next three-row vehicle will be called Kia Carens. Additionally, the brand recently released the Kia Carens design sketches, helping us jot down 5 exciting key points to remember about its design.

SUV-worthy silhouette

Kia Carens will be locking the horns with a multitude of vehicles in the Indian market including Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Maruti Suzuki XL6, Hyundai Alcazar, and more. However, its silhouette will give it a distinguished look. The overall outline will be imposing with loud SUV credentials. Unlike the sequel followed by minivans, the Carens’ design sketches reveal a high-placed hood giving it a straight nose. Additionally, it will come with roof racks, chunky alloy rims, chunky sill plates, black coating and more.

Headlights with vertical division

Another new trend in the Indian market is the vertical arrangement of the headlights, which will also be seen on the Kia Carens. One of the main rivals of the Carens, Tata Safari, already masters this art. Nonetheless, the design language of Kia cars is highly regarded by the Indian public and hence an exciting front end is also expected with the Kia Carens. Additionally, the front can have a large trapezoidal sill plate for more butch.

Connected rear lights

Around the rear, the rear section of the Kia Carens will have an upright position. Also, it will house connected taillights, just like those seen on the Sonet. The centerpiece, in all likelihood, will be a reflector connecting the main units. In addition, the rear face will feature a two-tone bumper as well as a prominent skid plate.

Longer wheelbase

The Carens will sit on the same platform as the Seltos, which also shares its underpinnings with the Hyundai Creta and Hyundai Alcazar. Therefore, it was reported that the Carens would have a longer wheelbase than the Seltos – identical to the Alcazar at 2,760mm, which is the longest in this segment. The rear doors could also be wider than those on the Seltos to facilitate access for third-row occupants. In addition, the Kia Carens will come with a sturdy black coating along the entire length.

All new dashboard design

Unlike the Seltos’ unibody housing for the infotainment unit and instrument console, the Carens will follow an all-new design for the dashboard. At least the design sketches reveal it. A relatively tall instrument panel will house the 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment unit and instrument cluster. The latter could be a fully digital unit here.
