Trampled by Turtles, Railroad Earth, Yonder Mountain String Band to headline Hoxeyville Music Fest | New
HOXEYVILLE — One of Northern Michigan’s biggest music festivals is gearing up to showcase the country’s best and brightest bluegrass, Americana, blues and roots artists this weekend.
This year’s Hoxeyville Music Festival is scheduled to take place from Friday August 19th to Sunday August 21st.
The festival started in 2003 with a gathering of a few dozen friends playing music at the Coyote Crossing Resort. Over the past 20 years, the festival has grown tremendously, regularly attracting thousands of attendees and eventually requiring the road trip to 75 acres of farmland.
World-class musicians who have graced the Hoxeyville scene in recent years include Bruce Hornsby, Bill Kreutzmann, Mickey Hart, Buddy Guy, Billy Strings, Umphrey’s McGee and Greensky Bluegrass, to name a few.
This year’s festival lineup includes headlining performances by New Jersey’s Railroad Earth, Colorado’s Yonder Mountain String Band and Minnesota’s Trampled by Turtles.
In addition to domestic artists, a number of Michigan-based artists will take to the stage this weekend, including local favorites Seth Bernard, Rachael Davis, Airborne or Aquatic and May Erlewine.
Other bands and solo artists performing this year include the Infamous Stringdusters, Melvin Seals and JGB, the Larry Keel Experience, Lindsay Lou, the Crane Wives, the Waydown Wanderers, Full Cord, Arlo McKinley, Myron Elkins and The Dying Breed, Jordan Hamilton, Mystic Dub, the Mark Lavengood Band, Earth Radio and Whorled.
The festival features a number of food, drink and merchandise vendors, as well as on-site camping.
There will also be a variety of Michigan craft beer selections on site, as well as – for the first time – cannabis products from Cadillac-based Dunegrass Co.
Additionally, the festival dedicates a tent just to children’s activities, including arts and crafts, face painting, a make-your-own instrument show, sock puppets, leather goods, and performances. musicals by Ted Bounty and Rachael Davis.
